Grass pollen in Tyrol: low to moderate levels!

Grass pollen. Grass pollen levels in the Tyrolean valleys are still gradually decreasing. Most grasses at lower elevations have already finished releasing their pollen, and the grass pollen season is now continuing at reduced intensity. Currently, pollen concentrations are generally low in the valley regions. However, at higher elevations, such as in Obergurgl, levels can still reach locally moderate concentrations. Allergy sufferers should be especially alert in mountainous meadows and pastures, where dense grass cover can lead to locally higher pollen levels. At lower elevations, maize (corn) fields and their immediate surroundings should also be considered, as corn pollen, though less widespread due to its heavy weight, can still trigger allergy symptoms in grass pollen-sensitive individuals, essentially near the fields. In addition to grass pollen, low levels of plantain and dock/sorrel pollen are still present in the air and may add to the discomfort for those allergic to grasses.

Mugwort. The next potential trigger for pollen allergy sufferers is mugwort. At the moment, no mugwort pollen has been detected in the air of the region. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of any changes.

Sweet chestnut. Sweet chestnut pollen is still present in the region, although overall pollen levels remain low. For those allergic to birch pollen, please be aware that sweet chestnut may cause cross-reactions and trigger similar allergy symptoms.

Other pollen types. Pollen from other plants like stinging nettle is also present, but it typically has low allergenic impact.

Fungal spores. Fungal spores are currently present at moderate to high levels, and sensitive individuals may experience allergy symptoms.

Take control of your allergy season. Staying up to date with current pollen and spore conditions can help you to better manage your symptoms and plan your daily activities. Whether it is choosing the right time for outdoor exercise or knowing when to ventilate your home, small steps can make a big difference. We will continue to provide regular updates to help you to stay one step ahead of your allergies.
