Charter on social diversity
In 2015, the University of Innsbruck adopted a “Charter on Social Diversity”. It expresses a concern to which the Research Area has been committed for many years and which many of our activities take into account.
Charter
The Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck is committed to the existence of diverse identities and cultures within and between groups of people and societies, along with the promotion of prejudice-free and peaceful interaction with this diversity. The University perceives diversity and change as sources of exchange, renewal and creativity. Following the tradition of the Enlightenment, it is committed to overcoming the challenges of an everchanging society and to preserving democratic, humane, social and gender-fair principles. In so doing, the University not only fulfils its teaching and research responsibilities, it also meets its basic societal obligations as stipulated in the University Statutes (§ 1 UG 2002).
In fulfilling these obligations, the Leopold Franzens University seeks to enter into dialog with all people, groups and institutions that want to contribute to a pluralistic society. In particular, the University addresses those who feel insecure in view of violent and military conflicts and who want to obtain information about causes and underlying conditions. This situation requires us to maintain an open mind, to counter polemics and half-truths with arguments, and to be ready for dialog. The University of Innsbruck strives to make discussions more objective, involving scientists from the most diverse fields with the widest expertise. In light of the fact that conflicts and coping with them are part of human interaction, the University of Innsbruck is deeply committed to opposing polemics and halftruths with reason and arguments and to promoting communication in a pluralistic society.
With these principles in mind, the University of Innsbruck extends an invitation, to both members and people from outside, to a variety of events covering current issues. These include questions of social diversity in "migration societies", education and training, the relationship between religions, violence and politics, the coexistence of different cultures, and the responsibility or the failure of nations and politics to solve these problems, etc. In this context, the university would like to provide space for communication, a space where people can obtain information, can meet and exchange opinions, and where fears and opposing interests are voiced openly.
L’Università di Innsbruck (Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck) riconosce l’esistenza di molteplici identità e culture fra gruppi umani e società, come anche al loro interno, e promuove un approccio pacifico e scevro di pregiudizi con tale molteplicità. Essa considera diversità e cambiamento come fonte di scambio, rinnovamento e creatività; ritiene un suo impegno, dettato dalla tradizione illuministica, contribuire a superare le sfide che si pongono in una società in continuo cambiamento e salvaguardare i principi di una comunità democratica, umana, sociale e senza discriminazioni di genere. In tal modo non solo adempie alle sue funzioni in materia di insegnamento e ricerca, ma ottempera anche al suo dovere sociale sancito dalla legge universitaria (§ 1 UG 2002).
Nell‘adempimento di detto impegno l’Università Leopold-Franzens è aperta a tutte le persone, gruppi e istituzioni che vogliano contribuire alla realizzazione di una società pluralistica e si rivolge in particolare a tutti coloro che si sentono disorientati di fronte a conflitti violenti e armati e cercano informazioni sulle loro cause e contesti. In tale situazione è necessario mantenere il dovuto equilibrio, contrapporre argomenti alle polemiche e mezze verità ed essere aperti al dialogo. L’Università di Innsbruck si adopera per una discussione obiettiva; al dialogo partecipano scienziati delle più svariate discipline con le loro diverse competenze specifiche. In considerazione del fatto che i conflitti e il relativo superamento costituiscono parte della coesistenza, l’Università di Innsbruck considera una questione prioritaria contrastare polemiche e mezze verità con razionalità e argomenti e promuovere la comunicazione in una società pluralistica.
In questo senso l’Università di Innsbruck invita a partecipare alle diverse manifestazioni che affrontano le tematiche attuali (questioni circa la diversità nella società di migrazione, l’educazione e istruzione, il rapporto fra religioni, violenza e politica, la coesistenza di differenti culture, la responsabilità ovvero il fallimento degli stati e della politica nel risolvere questi problemi, ecc.) e non sono rivolte solo al personale universitario. In questo contesto l’Università vorrebbe fungere da luogo di comprensione e comunicazione, in cui le persone si informano, s’incontrano, si scambiano opinioni e in cui ci si possa esprimere su timori e conflitti d’interesse.

L’Université d’Innsbruck reconnaît l’existence de diverses identités et cultures entre et au sein de groupes humains et sociétés et encourage une ouverture d’esprit pacifique à l’égard de cette diversité. Elle voit dans la diversité et le changement une source d‘échange, de renouvellement et de créativité. Elle se sent en cela redevable à la tradition des Lumières et contribue ainsi à surmonter les exigences d’une société sans cesse en pleine mutation et à préserver les principes d’une communauté humaine, démocratique, sociale et égalitaire entre hommes et femmes. Par là- même elle ne remplit pas simplement ses devoirs dans le domaine de l’enseignement et de la recherche mais satisfait également à la mission sociale fondamentale inscrite dans la loi universitaire (§ 1 loi universitaire 2002).
Dans l’accomplissement de ce devoir l’Université d’Innsbruck recherche l’échange verbal avec toutes les personnes, groupes et institutions voulant contribuer au maintien d’une société résolument plurielle. Elle s’adresse particulièrement à tous ceux qui, au vu d’affrontements violents et belliqueux, ressentent un sentiment d’insécurité et qui souhaiteraient obtenir des informations sur les origines et dessous de ces affrontements. Dans cette situation il est important de garder la tête froide, de contrer avec force d’arguments des demi-vérités et polémiques et d’être ouvert au dialogue. L’Université d’Innsbruck s’efforce d’objectiver la discussion. Des scientifiques issu(e)s de disciplines les plus diverses et disposant de différentes expertises s’associent à ce dialogue. Etant donné que les conflits et leur dépassement font partie d’une vie en communauté, il est véritablement important pour l’Université d’Innsbruck de contrer polémiques et demivérités en usant d’arguments raisonnables et d’encourager la compréhension au sein d’une société plurielle.
C’est dans cet esprit que l’Université d’Innsbruck propose plusieurs rendez-vous traitant de thèmes actuels (diversité sociale au sein de la société migratoire, éducation et formation, relations entre religions, violence et politique, cohabitation de diverses cultures, responsabilité et plus précisément échec de l’État et de la politique dans la résolution de problèmes etc.) ne s’adressant pas seulement aux membres de l’université. Dans ce cadre, l’université souhaiterait être un espace de compréhension où les personnes puissent s’informer, se rencontrer et échanger et où les peurs et intérêts contraires puissent être exprimés.
Innsbruck Leopold-Franzens Üniversitesi içinde ve etrafında insani grupların ve toplulukların bulunduğu farklı kimliklerin ve kültürlerin var oluşuna inanmaktadır ve bu çeşitliliğin önyargısız ve huzurlu iletişimini desteklemektedir. Farklılığı ve değişimi mübadele, rejenerasyon ve yaratıcılığın kaynağı olarak görmektedir. Sürekli değişen bir toplumda oluşabilecek zorlukların üstesinden gelme konusunda katkıda bulunmak, demokratik ve hümanist, sosyal ve cinsiyet ayrımcılığı yapmayan bir topluluğu korumak için kendisinde geleneği aydınlatma sorumluluğunu hissetmekte. Böylece sadece eğitim ve araştırma alanındaki vazifelerini değil, bununla beraber Üniversite yasasının temelinde bulunan toplumsal görevini de yerine getirmektedir (§ 1 UG 2002).
Böyle bir görevi yerine getirmeyi amaçlayan Leopold-Franzens Üniversitesi tüm kişilerle, gruplarla ve kuruluşlarla bir görüşme yapmak istiyor. Özellikle şiddetli ve silahlı çatışmalardan dolayı kendilerini tedirgin hissedenlere ve ardında yatan sebeplerle ilgili bilgilenmek isteyenlere hitap etmek istiyor. Bu durumda tedbirli olmalı, polemiklere ve gerçek dışı söylentilere argümanlarla karşılık vermeli ve diyaloğa hazır olmalı. Innsbruck Üniversitesi bu müzakereyi somutlaştırmak için gayret göstermektedir. Bu diyaloğa farklı dallarda uzmanlaşmış ve farklı ekspertizler yapmış bilim adamları katılıyor. Anlaşmazlıkların ve sorunları yenmenin birlikte yaşamanın bir parçası olduğu hakikatini göz önünde bulundurarak, polemiklere ve gerçek dışı söylentilere karşı mantık ve argümanlarla yaklaşmak ve plüralist toplumda var olan iletişimi desteklemek Innsbruck Üniversitesi için derin bir önem taşımakta.
Bu hususta Innsbruck Üniversitesi güncel konuların tartışıldığı ve sadece Üniversite üyelerine hitap etmeyen çeşitli etkinliklere davet ediyor (göçmen topluluğuna, yetiştirme ve eğitime, dinlere, şiddet ve politikaya, farklı kültürlerin birarada yaşamasına, ülkelerin ve politikanın sorunları çözmesiyle ilgili mesuliyetlerine, daha doğrusu başarısızlıklarına vb bağlı toplumsal çeşitlilikle ilgili sorular). Üniversite bu bağlamda bir iletişim alanı olarak, insanların bilgi edindiği, karşılaştığı ve fikir alışverişinde bulunduğu, endişelerin ve menfaat uyuşmazlıklarının telaffuzu ile ilgili işlevini yerine getirmek istemektedir.
