21st International Radiance Workshop
August 28-31, 2023

The Radiance Workshop is the annual user meeting of the Radiance software developer and user community. The workshop is held alternately in Europe and North America and we were pleased to welcome the Radiance community to Innsbruck this year, joining a list of prominent hosts. Check out the documentation with all recorded presentations and workshop photos from the successful event in August 2023 on the Radiance website.

The workshop is an optimal platform for researchers, practitioners, educators and all other daylight, HDR, rendering, and lighting simulation lovers to present and discuss their Radiance-related work. It does not matter whether you are a complete newbie, an experienced user or an expert – all contributions are welcome. Speakers not only have the possibility to discuss their results and ongoing work with experts and get valuable feedback from the community, but also receive a discount on the workshop registration.

Presentations at the workshop will be 15 minutes + 5 minutes for Q&A. After the workshop the presentations will be made available on the Radiance website.

Location

August 28: Tutorial Day @ Bartenbach

Bartenbach GmbH is located at Aldrans (Address: Rinner Straße 14, 6071 Aldrans), nearby Innsbruck. A shuttle bus is organized to take all participants from the city centre to Aldrans in the morning and back after the workshop has ended at the end of the day. If anyone plans to come directly to Aldrans, please let the organisational team know, so we don't have to wait with the bus.

The pick-up and drop-off location and times of the shuttle bus are:

  • Departure location: in front of the Rathaus Galerien / Penz Hotel entrance at the Adolf-Pichler-Platz (here)
  • Departure time: 7:50 a.m.
  • Arrival time after the workshop: ca. 18:00 p.m.

August 29 & 30: Workshop day 1 & 2 @ University of Innsbruck, Campus Technik:

Seminar room ("Seminarraum") nr. 1 and 2 at the ground floor ("EG" or "Erdgeschoss") of the ICT-Building ("ICT-Gebäude") at the Campus Technik (which is located in the west of Innsbruck). This building i.a. hosts the Informatics department of the University of Innsbruck, which offers a good description on how to arrive at the ICT-Building from the city on their website. This includes the public transport possibilies from the city centre to the Campus Technik, mainly practical are the following two trams that generally depart every ten minutes (online timetable for Innsbruck can be found at: www.ivb.at):

Coming from the main train station:

  • Tram 5 (Technik West) takes you directly to Innsbruck Technik (17min / 9 stops)

Coming from the historic center:

  • Tram 2 (Peerhofsiedlung or Technik West) takes you directly to Innsbruck Technik (about 13min)

In the picture below, the bigger building in the middle/left is the Engineering Sciences Building; here the hosting unit (Unit of Energy Efficient Building) is located; however, the Workshop Days take place at the ground floor of the ICT-Building, which is the smaller four-story building at the right side.

August 31: HELLA Factory tour and visit to the region of Ost-Tirol

HELLA is located at Abfaltersbach, in the region of Ost-Tirol. A shuttle bus is organized to take all participants from the city centre to HELLA in the morning and back after the visit to Ost-Tirol has ended at the end of the day. The pick-up and drop-off location and times are:
