Professor Dr Matthias Bank

Research Interests: Theory of Financial Intermediation/ Theory of the Firm, Behavioural Finance, Market Microstructure Theory/Liquidity in Asset Markets and Capital Market Theory/Asset Pricing

Short profile: Matthias Bank is Professor of Banking and Finance at the Department of Banking and Finance. He is currently Chairman of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Business and Management and a member of the Academic Senate and the Works Council for Academic Staff at the University of Innsbruck. He was Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management from 2013 to 2021. He received his doctorate from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1997, was a professor at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (2002-2008) and the University of Liechtenstein (2004-2015) and has been a university professor at the University of Innsbruck since 2001.

Research Interests: Experimental Economics and Finance, Behavioural Finance, Bubbles, Meta Science, Crowd Research, Replicability, Value and Valuation of Information, Market Microstructure, Asymmetric Information, Empirical Properties of Financial Markets ("stylised facts"), Transaction Taxes, Prediction Markets

Short profile: Jürgen Huber is Professor of Finance at the Department of Banking and Finance and has been Head of the Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of Innsbruck since 2010. He is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Behavioural and Experimental Finance and a member of the Editorial Board of the Review of Behavioral Finance. He habilitated at the University of Innsbruck in 2007, was Visiting Assistant Professor at the Yale School of Management and Visiting Professor at universities in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. He has been a university professor at the University of Innsbruck since 2008.

Short profile: Michael Kirchler is Professor of Finance at the Department of Banking and Finance and Head of the Research Centre "Financial Markets and Risk" at the University of Innsbruck. He is spokesman for the CRC "Credence Goods, Incentives and Behaviour" of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). Kirchler habilitated at the University of Innsbruck in 2010, held visiting professorships in Aarhus and Gothenburg and was Associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Psychology (2016-2018). He has been a university professor at the University of Innsbruck since 2013.

University Professor Dr Jochen Lawrenz

Research interests: Asset pricing and risk management

Short profile: Jochen Lawrenz is Professor of Risk Management at the Department of Banking and Finance. He is currently deputy head of the Institute and spokesperson for the group of professors at the Faculty of Business and Management. From 2020-22 he was a board member of the German Society for Financial Economics (DGF). He received his doctorate in 2005, was a visiting researcher at HEC Lausanne (Switzerland), held a deputy professorship at Leibniz University Hannover (2012) and has been a professor at the University of Innsbruck since 2015.

University Professor Dr Klaus Schredelseker

Research interests: Capital market theory, information economics, frontier areas of business administration

Short profile: Klaus Schredelseker is Emeritus Professor of Business Administration at the University of Innsbruck and founder of the International Business and Economics programme. He received his doctorate in 1968 after studying Business Administration and Law in Paris, Mannheim, Berlin and Milan. Prior to his time in Innsbruck, he taught at the University of Wuppertal and held visiting professorships in Poznan, Strasbourg, Bergamo, Trento and Siena.

Research interests: Behavioural and methodological issues in economics and finance

Short profile: Matthias Stefan is Associate Professor at the Department of Banking and Finance at the University of Innsbruck. He received his PhD in Management from the University of Innsbruck in 2016 and his habilitation in Business Administration in 2025. He was a research fellow and postdoc at the University of Innsbruck and completed research stays at Chapman University, the University of Gothenburg and the Max Planck Institute in Bonn, among others.

Dr Dennis Umlandt

Research Interests: Financial econometrics, asset pricing, international finance and time series analysis

Short profile: Dennis Umlandt is Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) at the Department of Banking and Finance at the University of Innsbruck. He received his PhD in Quantitative Economics from Kiel University in 2020. Prior to his current position, he was a PostDoc at Trier University and a Research Assistant at Kiel University.
