Building Connections and Knowledge – Universität Innsbruck

The workshop participants

Building Connections and Knowledge

The fourth Innsbruck-Munich Empirical Economics Workshop took place in late September, set at the scenic location of Maria Waldrast. Organized by Prof. Andreas Steinmayr (University of Innsbruck, Public Finance) and Prof. Joachim Winter (LMU Munich, Economics), this annual event provides junior researchers from both universities with a valuable platform to present their latest work and gain constructive insights from peers and senior colleagues alike.

Dedicated to advancing causal understanding through modern microeconometric methods, the workshop featured a diverse array of topics. These ranged from the effects of granting asylum seekers access to apprenticeships, to the role of effective communication in scientific progress, and to the ongoing development of the econometric toolkit itself.

Seventeen participants attended this year, creating a vibrant and collaborative environment. Beyond the academic discussions, attendees also enjoyed an afternoon hike, offering an informal setting to strengthen professional connections and spark new ideas.
We extend our gratitude to the Research Area EPoS Economics and Politics and Society for their funding, which made this workshop possible.

We look forward to continuing this tradition in the coming years!

(Andreas Steinmayr)
