The project focuses on designing a space that is seamlessly integrated between nature and architecture, including an event and concert canopy. To address the demands of a potentially mobile, adaptive, or transformable yet delicate and extremely lightweight canopy in this particular context, various concepts and methods of lightweight structures are being explored. While sophisticated surfaces are being created, the emphasis is on volumes, spaces, and atmospheres. Lightweight design follows unconventional principles, with success depending on respecting the interaction between geometry, structure, and material, as well as the existing historical and natural context.
The project focuses on reimagining an existing event space and music pavilion, aiming to integrate it harmoniously into the surrounding environment of Mieders (Stubai). The design challenge addresses the interplay between nature and architecture, exploring how large public spaces can be reshaped to accommodate fluctuating user demands and a wide variety of functions, events, and activities, both now and in the future.
At the core of the project is the question: How do we approach public spaces that experience varying levels of attendance, from small gatherings to large-scale events, while also considering different uses ranging from cultural performances to informal social interactions? We will investigate how spaces dedicated to music, culture, community, and nature are perceived and used today, and how they might evolve in the future.
Key aspects include the exploration of lightweight, adaptable, and potentially mobile structures, such as a transformable concert canopy, that respond to the specific characteristics of the site. Concepts of permanence versus temporality are critically examined, particularly in light of sustainability. Through this lens, the course encourages a thoughtful balance between long-lasting interventions and temporary solutions that can adapt to changing needs and environmental contexts.
The project embraces unconventional approaches to lightweight design, emphasizing the importance of geometry, structure, and material in relation to the historical and natural surroundings. We will not only develop sophisticated surface designs but also focus on creating volumes, spaces, and atmospheres that align with both aesthetic and functional goals.

Das erste Treffen zum Entwerfen haben wir gleich vor Ort geplant und laden alle dazu ein.

Hier im Sinne der Umwelt eine geeignete Busverbindung > Regionalbus 590b - von einer Anreise mit dem privaten PKW raten wir aufgrund der eingeschränkten Parkmöglichkeiten ab. Vom Treffpunkt aus werden wir gemeinsam den Ort besichtigen und Eindrücke sammeln und uns am Ende auch am konkreten Bauplatz aufhalten und die genauere Aufgabenstellung sowie die Rahmenbedingungen besprechen.
