FAQ
Graduates have specialized knowledge in digital transformation, AI, data science, and social innovation. They can critically analyze complex societal and technological challenges, apply interdisciplinary methods to develop innovative digital solutions, and evaluate their ethical and policy implications.
They will also learn to communicate findings effectively (oral communication) to various stakeholders and engage meaningfully in discussions around digital governance, innovation, and global citizenship. To achieve this, transversal learning outcomes are is broken down into tangible learning outcomes with the help of LOUIS (Learning Outcomes in Universities for Impact on Society) and their acquisition is measured by BEVI, The Beliefs, Events and Values Inventory.
The study programme provides a combination of technological expertise, sustainable social innovation and transversal skills. Graduates are able to use digital technologies specifically for sustainable social innovation and to tackle global challenges in an increasingly networked world. Topics such as digital society, social innovation and global citizenship take centre stage.
In addition to specialised knowledge, students acquire transversal skills that are essential for the complex requirements of the digital age. These include critical and ethical thinking, strategic and problem-solving work and the ability to analyse complex interrelationships and develop innovative solutions. Intercultural competences, global learning, teamwork and leadership skills prepare graduates to operate successfully in diverse and international contexts. A special focus is placed on integrative learning and the ability to combine knowledge from different disciplines in order to develop innovative and sustainable solutions.
DIGISOC is a joint degree that will be accredited through three different national accreditation procedures by three public universities and is designed to meet European degree criteria as follows:
Transnational Programme
DIGISOC is jointly designed and delivered by multiple accredited Higher Education Institutions from three European Member States, which complies with the criteria for a European degree. It conducts internal and external quality assurance in accordance with European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and leads to the award of a joint diploma, which is a specific requirement for attaining the designation of a European degree.
Flexibility and Embedded Student Mobility
DIGISOC enables deep international and intercultural experiences (online, onsite). It includes periods of compulsory and elective student mobility not only at the three partner universities but above all supports individualized learning experiences at least through:
- internships
- validation of non-formal learning
- individual learning paths
Student centeredness and labor market requirements
DIGISOC promotes student-centered learning and interdisciplinary components, which are essential for aligning with labor market requirements and ensuring the relevancy of competences developed. The development of transferable competences such as critical thinking, problem-solving and (international) teamwork will be monitored and evaluated with the help of BEVI, The Beliefs, Events and Values Inventory.
Democratic values and inclusiveness
Overall, DIGISOC exemplifies the collaborative and innovative spirit intended for European joint programmes, aligning with the broader objectives of the European Higher Education landscape.
Inclusiveness
To enable that all students regardless of their (socioeconomical) circumstances have access to DIGISOC and foster diversity, equality and inclusion, among other things, different ways of financial support will be made available to students.
Physical Mobility
Mobility Phases (e.g. Summer Schools) in the frame of DIGISOC are structured in a way, that makes application for Erasmus+ funding schemes possible.
The programme consists of 120 ECTS credits, culminating in the writing of a Master's thesis. It incorporates both compulsory and elective modules, as well as short term mobility phases (Summer Schools) provisions for individual learning paths, internships and service learning, respecting the needs and interests of a diverse European student body. DIGISOC is taught in English and mostly delivered in an hybrid mode.
DIGISOC Summer Schools
The Summer Schools within DIGISOC aim to provide a comprehensive, enriching educational experience that prepares students for future challenges and roles in their respective fields. Summer Schools offer all students an onsite learning environment to interact, exchange and build personal (international) relationships that may lead to sustainable collaborations and friendships across cultural and national boundaries.
Summer Schools bring together students and faculty from different disciplines and universities, which enhances interdisciplinary learning and the ability to tackle complex problems from various perspectives.
The structure of the Summer Schools within DIGISOC helps to enrich the educational experience by allowing students to engage deeply with the content. Summer School I at the beginning of DIGISOC is offered jointly across the three degree awarding universities and exposes students to diverse teaching and learning methodologies.
This format encourages the development of various skills, including international teamwork, critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, oral and cross-cultural communication, all of which are essential in today's globalized workplace. Summer Schools cover specific topics related to DIGISOC, such as digital communication, philosophical anthropology, and social innovation in education, allowing students to gain specialized knowledge relevant to their fields of study.
DIGISOC charges tuition fees of Euro 2.000 per academic year which are collected by Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Italy.
In addition, contributions to the Austrian Students' Union (around Euro 25/semester) and an environmental fee, if the home university is the University of Olomouc, must be paid.
