Wolfgang Gurgiser is coordinator of the Research Area mountain regions of the University of Innsbruck and therefore involved in various topics of mountain research. His core competences are in the field of climate, glacier and water related topics. He is particularly interested in the effects of climate change on mountain regions. He has gained valuable experience on the relevant processes and ongoing changes in the Alps and the Andes.

About
Wolfgang Gurgiser holds a master in meteorology and a doctorate in atmospheric and cryospheric sciences from the University of Innsbruck. He is coordinator of the research area “Mountain Regions“ at the University of Innsbruck and of the “International Mountain Conference”, the currently largest conference exclusively on mountain topics worldwide. Key elements of his work is climate change communication, knowledge transfer and the development of academic and non-academic courses on mountain and climate research.
