Keeping the photon in the dark
A research team led by Gregor Weihs has developed a method for the deliberate control of dark excitons in quantum dots. using chirped laser pulses and a magnetic field, the physicists succeeded in controlling these optically inactive quasiparticles and harnessing their unique properties for the storage and processing of quantum states.
Looking Back: The First-Ever AURORA OPEN 2025
The University of Innsbruck, in cooperation with the University Sports Institute Innsbruck (usi) and Palacký University Olomouc, hosted the first AUROA beach volleyball tournament and student conference. Students from Austria, Spain, the Netherlands, Iceland and the Czech Republic took part in the event.
Statisticians: Spain is Women's Euro 2025 favorite
The 2025 European Women's Football Championship kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, in Switzerland. The Spanish national team is favored to take home the trophy in the three-week tournament. Germany, France, and England are also strong contenders for winning the European title – according to a team of statisticians from the University of Innsbruck and TU Dortmund University.

Schrödinger, Austria and Innsbruck
