Summary of the project
The new Smart City neighbourhood "Campagne-Areal" was built in the east of Innsbruck. It consists of 16 buildings in four blocks. More than 1,100 new flats and various service facilities such as shops, cafés, schools, kindergartens and sports facilities have been created. Residents as well as local clubs, schools and kindergartens were involved in the development of the masterplan. The aim is the long-term development of the area into a "Zero Emission Urban Region" and its integration into the urban development concept of the city of Innsbruck and the Tyrol 2050 energy strategy. Important aspects are the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, climate protection, social sustainability, maximum energy efficiency, ecological quality and renewable energy as an essential component of the energy supply.
Four buildings (forming a block) are already in operation and in use. They house 307 flats and several non-residential buildings (such as shops and kindergartens). The buildings are owned by two housing associations: Innsbrucker Immobiliengesellschaft (IIG) and Neue Heimat Tirol (NHT), while the monitoring system is in the hands of the University of Innsbruck and the Stransky company. The detailed monitoring system has already been installed in the buildings and is operated by the University of Innsbruck and Stransky.
