Introducing Sebastian Bachler – University of Innsbruck

Introducing: Sebastian Bachler | PhD student in the Project Part “Science as a Credence Good”

bachlerSebastian Bachler from Austria grew up in Reith near Kitzbühel in Tirol and originally planned to study chemistry. For various reasons he ended up in Economics and Finance and went through the Bachelor and Master program in "Management and Economics" and "Banking and Finance" at the University of Innsbruck. During that time, he regularly worked as a software developer to finance his studies (e.g. for a local energy provider to develop statistical forecasting models and data analysis software) and developed his interest in agent-based modelling, individual decision making, and energy markets. He is currently enrolled in the PhD program in Economics and joined the project part "Science as a Credence Good" at the beginning of March.

On a personal level, Sebastian definitely isn't lacking hobbies: Volleyball (beach and indoor), table tennis, high-diving, skiing, and weightlifting are on the list of his favourite sports. Apart from that, he likes to cook (and even more: eat good food!), play board games, work towards his private pilot license, code, or visit wellness resorts.

Sebastian is also particularly interested in the Russian culture:

For to me not yet fully apparent reasons, I love the Russian language and many other things related to Russia. Because of that, I every now and then am trying to improve my skills in the Russian language and in the future would love to visit Russia.
