History of the Research Platform Center Interdisciplinary Gender Studies Innsbruck (CGI)
In the fields of critical women's and gender studies, feminist research and gender studies, teaching and research has been carried out at the University of Innsbruck for over twenty years. The restructuring of the University of Innsbruck has also led to stronger networking in this field of research.
In the summer of 2005, the inter-faculty research focus was established, which was upgraded to the research platform (FP) Gender Studies: Identities - Discourses - Transformations on 1 January 2008.
In 2019, the research network was expanded to become the research platform Center for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies Innsbruck (CGI). With the establishment of the centre, the possibility was also created to connect academic positions to the CGI.
Since 1 September 2021, Prof.in Gundula Ludwig and Prof.in Levke Harders have been institutionally assigned to the CGI for the first time.
