The university course provides fundamental knowledge in managing estates and special collections, as well as methods and techniques for cataloging their objects and making them accessible to the public.

Requirements
General university entrance qualification in the form of a school-leaving certificate (Matura in Austria) or University Entrance Qualification Examination
The university course can be recognised as an elective module ‘Data Librarian’ in the University Continuing Education Programme Library and Information Studies – Basic Programme.

Course Special Collections (1 ECTS-AP) - at the named Location
Students will be able to describe the special requirements for acquiring and managing estates (e.g. autographs, files and correspondence) and apply national and international standards and regulations for cataloguing estates. They will be able to organise estates according to different classification methods in relation to the respective material and will be able to apply professional and appropriate methods for the sustainable and careful preservation, storage and use of the objects.

Course Estate management and cataloguing (2 ECTS-AP) - ONLINE
Students will be able to apply the methods of building up, cataloguing and preserving special holdings and collections. They will be able to describe the special features of object preservation and conservation when dealing with the respective collection objects and make them accessible for research, teaching and science as well as the interested public.
