Verena was born in1986 in Immenstadt im Allgäu, Germany. She studied sport science at the University in Innsbruck and completed her PhD in 2016 under the mentorship of Martin Burtscher. During this time, her research interests were mainly directed towards understanding the hematological adaptions to different forms of exercise training in normoxia and hypoxia, physical activity as therapeutic and preventive applications and effects of intermittent hypoxia on performance and health. She is a certified ski, strength training and track and field instructor and was a student member at the Board for Ethical Issues at the University of Innsbruck. Since 2018 she has a post-doctoral position at the University of Innsbruck.
