Summary
Preserving the cultural landscape in the Alps and achieving the ambitious climate targets will only be possible if we intensify our efforts to valorise and sustainably use historic buildings and see this task as a mandate for civil society as a whole. The ATLAS project will highlight the (re)discovery of traditional architecture - not necessarily protected - which is often located in deprived areas and has a low level of energy efficiency and living comfort.
Output instruments
1. a historical building atlas for the Alpine region as a tool for capitalising on best practice building renovations.
2. concepts for low carbon refurbishment and RES integration socially, culturally and technically assessed and adapted to the Alpine archetypes
3. historic building renovation as part of sustainable regional development strategies and business concepts
To achieve these goals, ATLAS will provide advanced tools, such as an online decision support tool for refurbishments and a ToolKit for municipalities. Customised training and dissemination activities such as the cross-border EnerCulTour and the transnational workshops will ensure the exchange of knowledge and the implementation of the project results.
Partners with expertise in the fields of energy efficiency, heritage conservation and regional development will work closely together in ATLAS.
The direct involvement of the municipalities in the consortium is crucial for the development and implementation of the project results.
Focus at the University of Innsbruck
Our focus is on the development and documentation of energy-efficient solutions with high conservation compatibility. These solutions are presented using a decision support tool.
Financial support
Total project budget € 1,847,136.89. ERDF funding € 1,399,900.58.
