Foundation of the Institute of Biochemistry as part of the Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Innsbruck (LFU). |

Prof. Dr. Manfred Schweiger heads the institute as full professor of Biochemistry. |

1994 - 2014 |
Prof. Dr. Klaus Bister acts as full professor of Biochemistry and head of the institute. |

2002 |
The institute becomes part of the newly founded Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy as consequence of the LFU reorganization, according to the new Austrian University Law. |

2004 |
Foundation of the Center for Molecular Biosciences (CMBI) at the University of Innsbruck in which all research groups from the institute participate until today. |

The Institute of Biochemistry moves from the Peter-Mayr-Strasse to the new Center for Chemistry and Biomedicine on Innrain 80-82. |
