ATTENTION: For some partner universities, there are certain regulations regarding the timing (winter or summer semester) and/or the duration (semester or full academic year) of the ERASMUS+ stay. The best way to find out which universities are affected is to contact the respective subject coordinator directly.
ERASMUS+ (EuRopean Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) is the EU programme for education, youth and sport. The programme focuses on the promotion of mobility and transnational cooperation as well as the exchange of best practice in the education and youth sector.
As part of the ERASMUS+ student mobility programme, you can also study at a partner university in a Romance-speaking country for one semester or a whole academic year as an outgoing student at the University of Innsbruck and have the courses you complete credited towards your studies here in Innsbruck. In addition, every year "incomings", i.e. students from our respective partner universities, come to us in Tyrol to take part in a subsidised ERASMUS+ stay and study Romance languages and cultures together with you.
The earliest possible start of an ERASMUS+ stay depends on the respective study cycle (Bachelor, Master, PhD):
- In the Bachelor's programme, an ERASMUS+ stay abroad is possible from the 3rd semester, i.e. after completing the 1st year of study. If you are interested in an ERASMUS+ stay in the 2nd year of study, you should already inform yourself and apply in the 1st semester!
- In the Master's and PhD programmes, however, an ERASMUS+ stay abroad is possible from the 1st semester onwards. However, there are some restrictions regarding the universities, i.e. the agreements do not apply to the Master's and PhD level at every partner university.

If you are interested in a stay abroad as part of the Erasmus+ programme, please contact the respective subject coordinator at our institute. They will provide you with all important preliminary information. However, please be sure to inform yourself about all formalities on this website beforehand.
2. application via the Institute of Romance Studies
For applications for a place (in Belgium, France, Italy or Spain), please complete the following application form by 31 January (for the entire following academic year) and send it to the respective subject coordinator: Application form here
3. official application via LFU
The official application for a place and the definite acceptance of a place takes place via the LFU portal.
The deadlines are as follows:
01.02. - 31.03. for stays in the winter semester or for the entire academic year
01.07. - 31.08. for stays in the summer semester
The deadline for the waiting list ends on 10 April or 10 September.

4 Further steps
After the application deadlines and hopefully after you have all accepted an Erasmus place, you will receive further information and access to an olat course, through which the International Office of the University of Innsbruck offers webinars on the next steps and where you will find further documents and checklists.
One of the most important next steps is course recognition via an Online Learning Agreement. Please inform yourself well in advance about the courses offered at your host university, as this part of the preparation is time-consuming.
For most partner universities, it is also necessary for you to register directly at the university in question. You are responsible for obtaining the relevant information and any signatures and meeting the relevant deadlines - so make sure you do this in good time and check your emails regularly.
Courses totalling 30 ECTS per semester are mandatory. This corresponds to one semester's coursework.
The Online Learning Agreement must be signed by you and your academic supervisor (Ass.-Prof. Dr. Dr. Julia Pröll) and, if applicable, by other people and will subsequently be confirmed by the host university.

As a student, you have the opportunity to complete a 3-12 month internship in another European country (e.g. Belgium, France, Italy or Spain). Such internships are subsidised by the EU with a monthly allowance. More details: here
ERASMUS+ internship as a language assistant: The activity as a language assistant within the framework of the ERASMUS+ programme is carried out as an ERASMUS+ internship. Host organisations are schools or kindergartens in other European countries. You are only eligible to participate as a student teacher of Romance Studies.

If you are interested, please contact the responsible language teacher at our institute. A few scholarships for summer language courses are also awarded by the International Relations Office.
If you are studying one of the subjects French, Italian or Spanish as a school subject, you already have the opportunity to teach at a French, Italian or Spanish school during your BA/MA teaching degree programme with a scholarship from the BMBWF. With a foreign language assistant programme at a European partner school, you not only broaden your own teaching horizons and immerse yourself in the language and culture of the partner country, but you can also actively convey the diverse Austrian culture to pupils in Belgium, France, Italy or Spain. Duration of funding: for library visits up to 1 month, for diploma/master's theses up to 3 months, for dissertations up to 5 months. The current scholarship rate per month is up to € 600. If you are interested, please contact the International Relations Office.
