Methods of Lightweight Structures
This course delves into the world of high-efficiency shell structures, drawing inspiration from natural phenomena such as the spatial interlocking patterns found in pistachio and walnut shells. We explore the unique cellular structures of these biological systems, investigating their geometric properties, interlocking mechanisms, and overall performance. Through a multidisciplinary approach, we examine how these principles, characterized by nonsequential assembly logic, can be translated into architectural and structural designs.
Throughout the course, we will gain insights into the advantages offered by the geometry of individual modules and explore the various shapes and spatial configurations that can be achieved through this innovative approach.
