School

Since its founding as Russian Centre in 2011, the Centre for Eastern European Studies has supported the teaching of Russian at Tyrolean schools (subject Russian as a foreign language as well as teaching Russian as a first or second language). Particularly important for us is the cooperation with the ARGE Russisch in Tyrol, which for years has been holding its regular professional training courses on the premises of the Centre for Eastern European Studies.

In addition, the Centre for Eastern European Studies participates in school events and school projects related to Russia and Eastern Europe (open days, project weeks, language competitions). In recent years, the Centre has also provided support for language and cultural trips for pupils to Russia.

Prizes for pre-academic papers with reference to Eastern Europe

Since the school year 2021/22, the Centre for Eastern European Studies has been awarding prizes for the best pre-academic papers with reference to Eastern Europe. In this way, we want to awaken interest in researching this historically, culturally, linguistically and socially diverse region and promote talent already at school.

Prizes are awarded for papers with a focus on

History, social studies and political education
Language, literature, film, art, media and music
Geography and economics
Ethics, philosophy and religion
