The University’s main mandate is to focus on research and development, teaching and continuing professional education and training. In all these fields its regional status is to be deepened and its high ranking in the European academic area is to be guaranteed. This is laid down in the Mission Statement of the University of Innsbruck. The University is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and students, irrespective of gender, marital status, family status, age, disability, race, sexual orientation, and religious belief, and membership of the travelling community.

Founded in 1669, the University of Innsbruck looks back to a long and variable history. The University has always been a supporting pillar of the Tyrolean society and has influenced the region tremendously. The importance of its status as a research and educating institution can be seen in the numerous award winning alumni and current and former scientists teaching and researching at the University. Many scientific cutting-edge discoveries have been made at this institution. Today the University comprises of 16 faculties and 83 departments. The conference will take place at the Campus Technik (Technical Campus).

The Campus Technik (Technical Campus) of the University of Innsbruck is located outside the city center, close to the airport. It is home of the majority of the natural sciences in Innsbruck, such as engineering, physics, biology, mathematics, computer sciences, and architecture.

Surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop, the university city of Innsbruck boasts modern infrastructure and a historic old town. It is not without reason that Innsbruck is known as the city of short distances. Short distances between venues and hotels ensure a smooth journey. The main train station is also just a few walking minutes away from the city center and even from the airport you can reach the city center in 15 minutes with bus line F. Additionally, tram lines 2 and 5 provide a quick 15-minute journey from the city center to the conference venue.

Innsbruck's central location in the heart of Europe makes it easy to reach from all directions. It is connected to the european rail network by long-distance trains from Munich (Germany), Zurich (Swiss), or Bolognia (Italy), Budapest (Hungary), offering night train connections further to Czech Republic, Netherlands, Slovenia, and Croatia. Also flight connections from various parts of Europe lead directly to the capital of Tyrol. There is also a convenient bus service from Munich airport to Innsbruck airport that can be booked directly with your flight, see lufthansa-express-bus. Furthermore you can get to Innsbruck by car via the A12 Inntal highway and the A13 Brenner highway. Please note: A toll sticker is compulsory on Austrian highways.

Moving around Innsbruck

The most convenient way to move around Innsbruck is by bus (Bus), tram (Straßenbahn), city bike (Stadtrad), or by Taxi.

In Innsbruck, Tyrol, public transport requires an "IVB-Ticket." This ticket can be purchased at ticket vending machines at tram and bus stations, or online via the VVT app, for further information see  VVT

Fares (as of August 2024):
- One ticket (valid for Innsbruck city to Campus Technik): 3,00 €
- One ticket (valid for 24 hours for Innsbruck city to Campus Technik): 6,60 €
- One ticket (valid for 1 week for Innsbruck city to Campus Technik): 25,50 €

- Tickets must be purchased in advance through the VVT app or at ticket vending machines before boarding. Once on the tram, tickets must be validated.
