Claudia Müller studied business administration and languages (English and Italian) at the University of Innsbruck. After graduating with a degree in business administration, she worked for several years in public administration and the private sector. Since returning to the University of Innsbruck to write her dissertation in the field of project management and innovation under Prof. Dr Rudolf Bratschitsch and Prof. Dr Hans Hinterhuber, she has worked in various specialist areas. After working at the Institute of Production Management, the Institute of Value Process Management and the Institute of Production Management and Logistics, she now works at the Institute of Accounting, Taxation and Auditing in the area of accounting, focusing on internal accounting/management accounting. This involvement in the various organisational units of the faculty enables her to cover a wide range of topics in theory and practice in addition to her current specialisation in accounting.
Visiting professorships and teaching activities at the University of Leoben and Salzburg in various study programmes (Bachelor/Diploma/master/MBA programmes), among others, complete her profile in the field of university activities.  She also places a strong focus on the exchange with practice, which is reflected in numerous projects with companies in the SME and industrial sectors.

Claudia Müller also regularly takes on activities in the area of university self-administration; she has currently been working as a student representative for the BA in Economics since March 2024.

Claudia Müller conducts research in the fields of management accounting, performance management, intellectual capital management and corporate reorganisation. Depending on the topic, both quantitative and qualitative research approaches are applied.
