Peak of the birch pollen season: stay informed!

Birch pollen. We are currently observing high birch pollen concentrations across the region, except for higher altitudes above 1500 m. The allergenic burden is significant and may reach very high levels in certain areas. This trend is expected to continue throughout the Easter weekend. In addition, moderate levels of airborne pollen from hornbeam and hop hornbeam, trees commonly found in parks and gardens, are also being recorded. Due to cross-reactivity with birch pollen, these species may trigger allergic reactions in individuals sensitive to birch pollen, potentially intensifying symptoms. Pollen levels from oak are also on the rise. Oak pollen can also cause cross-reactions in people allergic to birch.
Only the rainy spells forecast for the coming week may bring temporary relief to those affected by pollen allergies.

Ash pollen. We are still recording a moderate allergenic burden across the region. As for birch allergy sufferers, individuals sensitive to ash pollen should also take precautions, as moderate levels are expected to persist in the coming days.

Plane pollen. The concentration of plane pollen is increasing to moderate and high levels, in particular surrounding the avenues where plane trees are present.

Grass pollen. We are observing the first pollen from grasses in the air of the region. The concentrations are currently low. We keep you updated on any developments.

Other pollen types. We are also detecting pollen from larch, walnut, cypress family, and willow, but these have low allergenic significance.

Stay informed and take precautions. Staying informed about the pollen loads in the region is key to managing allergies effectively. Keep an eye on our updates and remember to take necessary precautions during this pollen season to minimize discomfort and enjoy outdoor activities to the fullest.
