Information for lecturers

A reference collection is a compilation of literature (printed/electronic) on courses that lecturers provide for their students. As a rule, the books are listed under the name of the lecturer and the course.

To ensure that all students have access to this literature, it is generally not borrowed, but can be read, copied or scanned in the libraries. With the written permission of the lecturer, students may borrow books from the course reserve collection at short notice.

Often electronic versions of the desired literature (e.g. e-books) are often suitable for teaching, as all students can access them regardless of location and beyond the semester. E-media can be easily linked in the literature list.

Setting up a semester apparatus

Please research in our Suchportal BibSearch whether the work you require is in the holdings of the ULB Tirol or at which location it can be found. Send us a list of the desired works - please include author, title and call number!

No holdings at the ULB Tirol: Please send a corresponding purchase request as soon as possible to the library officer of your institute, or to ulb-erwerbung@uibk.ac.atas it takes some time from the receipt of the purchase request to the placement of the finished book.

The library accepts no liability for the placement of privately owned media and materials.

You will be notified automatically two weeks before the semester collection is cancelled and can have the duration of the semester collection extended. If no extension is requested, the library will close the semester collection at the end of the specified period and return the media to their permanent location, making them available to students again.

Scanning service for semester collections

At the beginning of the semester, you can specify three works per semester collection, which we will scan for you and recognise or process in full text. We will make the file available to you electronically so that you can upload it to the OLAT learning platform.

Legal framework conditions: In accordance with Section 42g UrhG, works may be reproduced and made available for the purposes of teaching or instruction for a defined group of teaching or course participants, provided that this is necessary for the respective purpose and is justified for the pursuit of non-commercial purposes. However, this excludes works which, by their nature and designation, are intended for school or teaching use, i.e. no textbooks!!!
