Below you will find our former employees for various projects as well as our former student assistants with information about them and contact details in alphabetical order.

ACHHORNER, Marco BA (Student Assistant)

Marco Achhorner Achhorner, Marco BA was working as a student assistant at the Department of Media, Society and Communication from October 2018 until March 2022. He studied Political Science at the University of Innsbruck and at Loughborough University in the UK. Since graduating with a bachelor's degree, he has been pursuing two master's degrees at our university: MA Political Science: European and International Politics and MSc Organization Studies.

BACHOR, Martina BA (Student Assistant)

Martina Bachor Bachor, Martina BA was a student assistant and organised the Media Day 2021 as well as the associated lecture series. She was employed at the Department of Media, Society and Communication from March 2020 until the end of September 2021. She was also part of the Forum Innsbruck Media Studies. She is studying Educational Sciences in the Master's programme at the University of Innsbruck.

BERTHOLD, Patrick (Student Assistant)

Berthold, Patrick was a student assistant at the Department of Media, Society and Communication from October 2018 to March 2019.

BLAAS, Nadine BA (Student Assistant)

Nadine Blaas

Blaas, Nadine BA studies European Ethnology and Art History at the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck. From March until October 2020 she worked at the Department of Media, Society and Communication as part of the DigiVis project. From October 1, 2020 until the end of September 2021 she was employed as a student assistant in research and administration.

BSTIELER, Michaela BBA (Student Assistant)

Michaela Bstieler

Bstieler, Michaela, BBA, studied philosophy and educational sciences at the University of Innsbruck. She has been able to gain in-depth experience in the fields of media and social sciences, philosophy, and social psychology thanks to her positions as a research assistant at several departments of the faculty of humanities.

CACHADA DIBUJA, Rocío, Dipl. Komm., Dipl. Ing. (Doctoral Candidate)

Rocio Cachada DibujaCachada Dibuja, Rocio, Dipl. Komm., Dipl. Ing., (born 1982), studied communication science with a focus on audiovisual communication, and graduated in the field of telecommunications, as well as in multimedia and film art. Her diploma thesis focused on "Adapted Information and Communication Technologies for Human Development". Dibuja worked in Chile, Guatemala, Morocco and Austria in the field of Communication for social change, especially together with independent media outlets. At the Department of Media, Society and Communication she worked on a dissertation project on alternative management of communication processes within social organisations.

CASTELLANA, Francesco (Intern)

castellanaCastellana, Francesco was completing his media education internship in the educational science program at the University of Vienna as part of Dr. Petra Missomelius' research on video cultures and digital practices of mourning and commemoration.

DELL'ANNA, Chiara (Student Assistant)

dellannaDell'Anna, Chiara was working as a student assistant at the Department of Media, Society and Communication from October 2020 to May 2021. In her bachelor's degree, she studied Media Studies as her major and Empirical Cultural Studies as a minor at the University of Tübingen. In her Master's program she is studying Gender, Culture and social Change at the University of Innsbruck.

FETKA, Michelle BA (Student Assistant)

Michelle FetkaFetka, Michelle, BA is studying Media at the University of Innsbruck for a Master's degree and German and Media Pedagogy for a Bachelor's degree. From October 2018 to March 2019 she was a student assistant at the Department of Media, Society and Communication.

FLEISCHER, Ina BA (Student Assistant)

Ina FleischerFleischer, Ina, BA studied educational science with a specialisation in media pedagogy at the University of Innsbruck. From early 2018 to October 2020 she worked as a student assistant at the Department of Media, Society and Communication. From March to October 2020, she was also responsible for the administrative office on an interim basis.

GALLNER-HOLZMANN, Katharina, Mag. (Project Associate: DigiVis-Project)

Katharina Gallner-HolzmannGallner-Holzmann, Katharina, Mag. was a research assistant in the DigiVis project and is writing her dissertation on virtual museums from the perspective of history and media didactics. After graduating as a teacher of German and history, social studies and political education at the University of Vienna, she gained teaching experience in Upper Austria and Tyrol. She has been employed at the Department of Media, Society and Communication from May 2018 until the end of 2020 and was also part of the Forum Innsbruck Media Studies. Her research interests are in the field of cultural memory, historical awareness, media and history didactics.

Hofer Nina

Hofer, Nina is studying German and Media Pedagogy in the teacher training program at the University of Innsbruck. As a student assistant in the DigiVis project, she prepared didactic materials and helped with the digitalization of archive materials.


LANER, Barbara, Mag. Dr. (Project Associate)

Barbara Laner

Laner, Barbara, Dr. phil., studied Comparative Literature and English/American Studies at the LFU Innsbruck and received his doctorate in 2014.

From February 2017 to January 2018 she conducted a interdisciplinary TWF project in the field of Digital Humanities "Visualization Strategies for Digital Archives - The Case of Discourse Analysis and the Ernst von Glasersfeld Archives" at the Department of Media, Society and Communication.


LAUBE, Penelope BA

Laube, Penelope BA worked as a student assistant at the Department of Media, Society and Communication between September 2021 and early 2022. She studied linguistics as a Bachelor at the University of Innsbruck. After graduation, she started her Master's degree in Media as well as her Bachelor's degree in Translation Studies.

LEDERWASCH, Anton (Technical Secretary)

Lederwasch, Anton was working as our technical secretary from September 2018 until the end of November 2020.

LINDNER, Eva

Eva LindnerLindner, Eva studies the Bachelor's programme Secondary School Teacher with a focus on Media Pedagogy and the subjects German and Mathematics. She worked between 2019 and 2022 as a student assistant at the Department of Media, Society, and Communication.

LUKOVIC, Dejan BA (Student Assistant)

Dejan LukovicLukovic, Dejan, BA, earned his bachelor's degree in Germanistik (German Studies) at the LFU Innsbruck and was studying MA Medien (Media) and MA Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft (Comparative Literature). His scientific research is focused on Game Studies. From March 2018 to October 2018, he was employed as a student assistant at the Department of Media, Society and Communication.

KIRSTEN, Karina, Dr.

Karina KirstenKirsten, Karina Dr. is scientific coordinator of the SFB "Media of Cooperation" at the University of Siegen. She studied film and media studies in Marburg and Paris and received her PhD in 2020 at the Philipps-Universität Marburg. Her research interests in media studies are located in the field of genre studies, media convergence and mobile media. She is interested in inter- and transmedial exchange processes in film, television and new media, especially with regard to digital distribution networks. In her postdoctoral project, she is researching the use of digital media in alpine mountaineering and the effects of mobile technologies on the perception of space, mobility and alpine culture. MARKSTEINER, Manuel (Student Assistant)

ManuelMarksteinerMarksteiner, Manuel is studying economics and art history at the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck in his Bachelor's studies. From April until October 2021 he was employed at the Department of Media, Society and Communication as a student assistant in research and administration. Together with Petra Missomelius he organized the 2021 version of the conference of the Society for Media Studies at our university in Innsbruck.

MOOSLEITNER, Manfred MSc (Project Assistant: Digi-Vis-Project)

Manfred MoosleitnerMoosleitner, Manfred MSc studies computer science at the University of Innsbruck. From October 2018 he was working as an assistant in the DigiVis project at the Institute for Media, Society, and Communication. Furthermore, he also began his work as an assistant at the Department of Computer Science in 2020.


OBERBICHLER, Sarah, Mag. Dr. (Project Associate: DigiVis-Project)

Sarah OberbichlerOberbichler, Sarah, Mag. Dr. is a researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History and the Institute for Media, Society and Communication at the University of Innsbruck. She studied history and German language and literature in Innsbruck, Gothenburg and Minneapolis and completed her doctorate in contemporary history at the University of Innsbruck in 2019 on the perception of migration in South Tyrolean daily newspapers. She is currently working on two projects for the analysis and visualization of digital newspapers and archives. Her research focus is on the remigration and repatriation of emigrants, refugees, displaced persons and prisoners of war to Austria. Her research interests include European and regional contemporary history, migration history, media and digital humanities.

OETTL, Manfred (Technical Secretary)

Manfred Oettl

Oettl, Manfred studies mechatronics at the Technical University of Innsbruck. From March 2020 until the end of September 2021 he was working as a technical secretary at the Department of Media, Society, and Communication.

ORTNER, Gerhard, Mag. (Technical Secretary)

Gerhard OrtnerOrtner, Gerhard, Mag., studied media pedagogy at the LFU Innsbruck and has been an external lecturer at the School of Education since 2013. Since 1999 he has been a lecturer at the VHS Innsbruck, focusing on the conception and implementation of IT courses for all age groups.

PENZ, Jasmin

Jasmin PenzPenz, Jasmin BA studies "Medien im Master" as well as "Politikwissenschaften" at the University of Innsbruck. She worked as a student assistant at the department between March 2022 und the end of 2023, where she organised the "Medientag" as well as the related "Ringvorlesung" and also worked on the DigiVis project.

Thomas WalliWalli, Thomas, BA BA, has been a student in the Master program of Political Science: European and International Studies and in the Master's program of Philosophy at the University of Innsbruck. He earned his bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science in 2015/2016. From 2014 he has been a student assistant at the Faculty of social and Political Sciences.
