International Economic and Business Studies

Welcome to the website of the study program International Economic and Business Studies at the Faculty of Business and Management. The Faculty of Business and Management is located in a spectacular landscape in the capital of the Alps. The campus is situated close to downtown Innsbruck. You study in the middle of world famous skiing resorts and there is a variety of outdoor activities all year round.

International Economic and Business Studies is a three year Bachelor  program for students who seek a truly multicultural experience by studying three years at Innsbruck and one semester  abroad. Although the program is mostly taught in German, two foreign languages at a very high level are required in order to successfully complete the compulsory semester abroad (ideally at the beginning of your 3rd year)  at a non-German teaching institution. Innsbruck University students train their academic and business skills in a high quality environment including a vast array of sporting activities as well as many cultural events throughout the year.

Testimonials

I spent my mandatory year abroad at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. The year abroad was enormously important, not only for deepening certain skills and knowledge in my field of studies but also for my personal development. The courses enable students to build up a comprehensive understanding of both intercultural management issues and international markets, and therefore, give them the necessary 'tool box' for their future career. ...Today, I'm working in the Foreign Research Division of the Central Bank of Austria, where my responsibility includes the analysis of the US, China and Japan for monetary policy issues.

For me IWW offers a comprehensive education in economics as well as numerous opportunities to pursue my specific interests in an international environment. Additionally, the study year abroad is a precious chance to deepen my language skills, to discover a different culture and to build up an international network.

- Lena, IWW student, 20 years

I have chosen 'International Economic and Business Studies' because I am interested in business and economic subjects and I also like to speak foreign languages. On top of that, this study programme gives me the opportunity to study abroad at a non-German teaching university where I will be able to make new friends from different countries and cultures. Although the program is challenging there is still time to enjoy Innsbruck and its surroundings for sport activities. Skiing and snow boarding in winter is really great!
