Jonathan Bernsteiner from Saalfelden has been named Student of the Year at the University of Innsbruck's Faculties of Economics. The "Student of the Year in Management and Economics" award comes with prize money of 2,000 euros, which is provided by the Bank Austria Förderstiftung.

Every year, students of the Bachelor's Programme in Management and Economics and Bachelor's Programme International Business Studies at the University of Innsbruck can apply for the prize of "Student of the Year in Management and Economics". In addition to excellent academic achievements, students must also demonstrate social commitment and involvement. This year, the jury selected Jonathan Bernsteiner from Saalfelden in Salzburg as "Student of the Year".

Jonathan Bernsteiner has been studying economics at the University of Innsbruck since 2022. He excelled in his studies here. International study visits took him to Hongik University in Seoul and the University of Hong Kong.

He showed great motivation early on - first in competitive biathlon and later by founding a sustainable fashion label. During his studies, he managed the Innsbruck office of icons - consulting by students, a student-run management consultancy. After volunteering in a children's home in Kenya, he founded the organisation Maono Running, which supports children and young people in north-west Kenya through sport and education.

Lina Landwehr and Michael Trampitsch were honoured with recognition prizes of 500 euros each this year.

"In addition to student achievements, extracurricular commitment in social, cultural, economic and sporting areas is also a very important criterion for us when awarding the prize. Sound social values are an important part of our corporate culture, alongside our international focus and strong regional roots. We also focus on these priorities in Tyrol and this award for students at the Faculty of Business and Management and the Faculty of Economics and Statistics at the University of Innsbruck is a good sign of this," says Daniel Hechl, Deputy Regional Director Corporate Clients Tyrol at UniCredit Bank Austria.
