Current pollen report for Tyrol
July 11th 2025
Grass pollen trends downward, but not gone: allergy exposure persists!
Grass pollen. Over the past two weeks, we have seen a gradual decline in grass pollen levels in the lower Tyrolean valleys. Recent rainy weather, and even fresh snow at higher elevations, has helped to further reduce the pollen concentrations in the air. Although the weather is now improving slightly, it will remain mixed for the next few days, with both rain and sunshine. From Wednesday onwards, conditions are expected to become sunnier and drier. During sunny spells, the grass pollen levels can still reach moderate levels, which may continue to trigger symptoms in allergy sufferers. This is particularly noticeable in areas like Wörgl, where moderate to high allergenic reactions are still being reported. At higher altitudes (above 1500 m), such as Galtür and Obergurgl, the grass pollen season is now also slowing down. However, during dry and sunny periods, moderate to high pollen levels can still occur, especially near meadows and pastures with dense grass covers. In addition to grass pollen, plantain and dock/sorrel pollen are still present in the air, contributing further to the allergy burden.
Green alder. The green alder pollen season is officially over.
Sweet chestnut. Sweet chestnut pollen is still present in the region, although the overall pollen levels remain low. If you are allergic to birch pollen, please take note that sweet chestnut can cause cross-reactions, meaning it may trigger similar allergy symptoms. If you are sensitive to birch pollen, please stay cautious during this period.
Other pollen types. We are also observing pollen from pine, cypress family, lime, stinging nettle, and sedges, among others, but these have low allergenic significance.
Fungal spores. Fungal spore levels are currently moderate to high. People who are sensitive may experience allergic reactions.
Stay informed and take precautions. Being aware of current pollen levels in your area is essential for managing allergy symptoms. Follow our regular updates and take appropriate precautions to reduce exposure. With the right measures, you can make the most of the season and continue enjoying time outdoors.
