Information for University of Innsbruck students wishing to complete lectures/examinations at other universities

Students enrolled at the University of Innsbruck who wish to complete lectures and/or examinations that are not offered at the University of Innsbruck but are at other universities in Austria must apply for permission to do so (“Mitbelegung”).

Such students must be registered at the University of Innsbruck for the relevant semester and must have paid the tuition fee. They also need a permission from the Dean of Studies which allows them to attend the courses at any other university in Austria.

For more information about the process of applying to complete lectures and/or examinations at other universities in Austria, please visit the website of the university where you would like to complete these lectures/examinations.


 Students wishing to complete lectures/examinations at Innsbruck Medical University (www.i-med.ac.at)

For the initial registration:

  1. Please complete the online pre-registration (Studierendenvoranmeldung)
  2. Come to the Admission Office and bring your student card and the admission record from the university where you are enrolled in

Students will then be admitted to Innsbruck Medical University with a special status (“Mitbeleger/in”) giving them the right to complete certain lectures/examinations. They will be issued with an admission record and a confirmation of registration from Innsbruck Medical University.

Students wishing to complete lectures/examinations at Innsbruck Medical University must reapply every semester for permission to do so.

 Students from other Austrian universities wishing to complete lectures/examinations at the University of Innsbruck

Students should inquire at their home university about the possibility of completing lectures/examinations at another university. They can then submit an application for permission to complete lectures/examinations at the University of Innsbruck’s Admission Department.

Documents required:

  • student card
  • up-to-date admission record showing that the student is registered (“gemeldet”),
  • confirmation of permission (“Bescheid”) to complete lectures/examinations at another university => "Antrag auf Mitbelegung"

 Extension of permission to complete lectures/examinations at another university

Students must register for lectures before the start of the semester. Therefore, the application and documents listed above must be submitted during the admission period of the relevant semester.

Students wishing to complete lectures/examinations must reapply every semester for permission to do so. After having paid the tuition fee and receiving the admission record (Studienblatt) of your main university, you have to notify the Admission Department of the University of Innsbruck of the continuation by sending a fax or e-mail of the current admission record.
