Mountain Agriculture and Rural Bioeconomy for the Resilience of Alpine Landscapes (AMBRA)
(Agricoltura Di Montagna E Bioeconomia Rurale Per La Resilienza Del Paesaggio Alpino / Berglandwirtschaft und ländliche Bioökonomie für die Widerstandsfähigkeit der alpinen Landschaft)
Mountain agriculture is of strategic importance for the sustainable management of rural, alpine areas, contributing to the preservation and promotion of biodiversity and strengthening the region against climate change. Mountain areas are often disadvantaged and therefore more vulnerable to crises. It is important that they adopt economically, socially, and ecologically sustainable development models and develop production activities that are compatible with the preservation of ecosystems. The AMBRA project supports the dissemination of highly specialized small and traditional mountain cultures through sustainable, agroecology-inspired practices. It focuses on production methods that support both biodiversity and ecosystem resilience, as well as the extraction of functional ingredients or the valorization of fibers, pigments, and other natural materials from a circular economy perspective. The project promotes replicable business elements to create growth opportunities for local actors in South Tyrol, FVG, Salzburg, and Tyrol. In this way, it promotes the care and preservation of the alpine mountain area.
