About me
As a historian, I am primarily concerned with social structures and discourses shaping the daily lives of individuals as well as their own scope for action. I write and teach on gender history, migration history, biography research, and the history of the humanities. My historical questions and empirical methods are influenced by theoretical approaches, also from other fields of knowledge.
After studying Modern German Literature, Modern and Contemporary History, Cultural Studies, and Gender Studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, I worked at Humboldt in the field of history of science / humanities and received the PhD for my historical study on American Studies and Gender in 2013. From 2008 to 2021, I worked at the University of Bielefeld (Department of History, Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies, and at the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology). In 2019/20, I was a visiting fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington, DC (USA).
