Information on the erasmus+ Exchange Programme

What is erasmus+?

erasmus+ is a series of programmes developed by the European Community. The main aim of erasmus+ scheme is to encourage the expansion of European co-operation in the field of education, as well as to make already existing study possibilities in the European Union accessible.

erasmus+ covers all types of university co-operation such as student mobility and teaching staff mobility. The participants are chosen by the home institution. erasmus+ enables students to spend a semester (or an entire academic year) abroad at a European University. The following countries participate in the erasmus+ programme: all EU countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.

What are the Benefits of Participating in an erasmus+ Exchange?

  • A stay of up to 12 months in each cycle (Bachelor, Master, PhD) for study or internship purposes
  • No tuition fees at the host and home universities (ÖH contribution at the University of Innsbruck must be paid, however!)
  • A monthly allowance to cover living costs
  • Recognition of ECTS acquired abroad
  • Improved language skills and job opportunities
  • Getting to know a new culture and many new people

After your erasmus Exchange

Please write a short report (ca. 1 page) on your experience abroad and send the document to Anja Hartl. Your experiences and impressions will be important for consultations with future exchange students and for deciding which university cooperations to continue in the future.

Some of the questions you might want to consider are:

  • What was it like to study at the partner university? (level of courses, language, etc.)
  • How did you find accommodation and were there any challenges?
  • Would you recommend studying at your partner university? Have you encountered any problems?
  • Do you have any advice for other students who will come to study at this partner university?
