Digital Community UIBK

We network across disciplines and employment categories and share best practices within the community to support joint learning. We channel the needs in the digitalisation of teaching, research and administration and contribute our expertise in the following areas:

• We want to contribute to opinion-forming and profile-building at the University of Innsbruck in the field of digitalisation.
• We want to reflect on the use of digitalisation and technologies both at the University of Innsbruck and in society in general.
• We strive to think about the transformative topics of digitalisation and sustainability together, as the combination of these two has an enormous impact.

We meet twice a semester for community meetings and also exchange information on specific topics.

We currently communicate via the mailing list digitalisierung@lists.uibk.ac.at and the OLAT course Digitisation at the University of Innsbruck in order to be able to exchange current topics and discuss them at any time.

We offer a network of experts and access to decision-makers in the field of digitalisation at the UIBK. In addition, all members are supported in communicating topics from the community to the right channels.

For the year 2024, each faculty has a budget of 5000 euros at its disposal, which can be spent on digitalisation projects. The Vice-Rectorate for Digitalisation and Sustainability must be informed promptly about the use of the funds in order to obtain an overview of the funded projects and thus the needs in the area of digitalisation. The Vice-Rectorate for Digitalisation and Sustainability in turn ensures that the approved projects and initiatives are made known to the community.

From 2025, there will be a change in the way funds are used. This will be developed in the course of 2024 and communicated in good time.

Each faculty of the University of Innsbruck sends a suitable person who would like to promote digitalisation at the University of Innsbruck to the community. This person is thus the faculty's delegate to the Digital Community UIBK (DDCU).

Furthermore, motivated individuals can send an informal, digital application letter to the Vice-Rectorate for Digitalisation and Sustainability in order to be accepted as a member of the UIBK Digital Community (MDCU). The application process is intended to ensure that new members are motivated to contribute their expertise to the community in the long term.

The type of membership is not decisive for the work within the community.

It is possible to leave the community at any time by sending an informal, written letter to the Vice-Rectorate for Digitalisation.
