mailings to students of the University of Innsbruck are possible in compliance with all relevant legal provisions:

We ask for your understanding that due to the large number of applications, mailings concerning surveys can only be approved for PhD, Master's and Diploma theses and only with the approval of the supervisor.
From the winter semester 2023/24, mass mailings for seminar papers and Bachelor's theses will no longer be approved.

It is not possible for non-members of the university to send out a mailing.
It is at the sole discretion of the university to decide whether and via which newsletter the event should be publicised. Authorisation is granted by the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Students.
ATTENTION: The processing time can take up to 10 working days.
Important information from the university management/faculty
(Applications can only be submitted within the university)
Important information that is in the direct interest of the students themselves and is directly related to the teaching or studies of the recipient and appears to be absolutely necessary.
For legal reasons, it is also necessary that these emails are in the university's own direct interest, i.e. it is not possible to send emails in the overriding interest of third parties in this way, as this would be a violation of the Telecommunications Act (anti-spam standards).
In any case, the university's and students' own interest in the information must be clear.
Examples: Payment reminders from the Admission Department to all students, information on enrolment via the SOWI points system to the students concerned.
Advertising content in the broadest sense may not be sent in this way for legal reasons.
According to supreme court rulings, §107 TKG does not only apply to commercial advertising:
„Wie der Oberste Gerichtshof auch schon zur wortgleichen Vorgängerbestimmung des § 101 Abs 1 TKG 1997 wiederholt ausgesprochen hat, ist der Begriff „zu Zwecken der Direktwerbung" weit auszulegen. Er erfasst jede elektronische Post, die für ein bestimmtes Produkt, aber auch für eine bestimmte Idee (einschließlich politischer Anliegen) wirbt oder dafür Argumente liefert. Darunter fällt auch jede Maßnahme, die dazu dient, auf ein eigenes Bedürfnis und die Möglichkeit seiner Befriedigung hinzuweisen, wobei auch schon die Anregung zur Inanspruchnahme bestimmter Leistungen diesem Begriff unterstellt werden kann. Dabei hindert die Gestaltung als Newsletter oder Informations-mail die Qualifikation als Werbung nicht.“ (OGH, 7Ob168/09w, 30.09.2009)
