University continuing education formats

Here you will find an overview of the continuing education formats we offer:

The Continuing Education Master’s Programme is an extraordinary degree program aimed at experts who have completed their studies and have relevant professional experience.
The Continuing Education Master’s Programme is basically equivalent to the full Master's degree MA. In accordance with the statutory provisions, an extraordinary Master's degree entitles the holder to admission to regular doctoral studies.

Scope: 120 ECTS-Credits
In exceptional cases, the workload for an extraordinary Master's degree program may be fewer ECTS credits if it is comparable in scope and requirements to several foreign Master's degree programs in the same subject area.

Duration: at least 2 years

Requirements: Completed Bachelor's degree with 180 ECTS credits and several years of relevant professional experience

  • Master of Arts (Continuing Education), MA (CE)
  • Master of Science (Continuing Education), MSc (CE)
  • Master of Laws, LL.M.
  • Master of Business Administration, MBA
  • Executive Master of Business Administration, EMBA
  • Master Professional, MPr

The  Continuing Education Bachelor's Programme is also an extraordinary degree program and is aimed at people with relevant professional experience.
The programme is basically equivalent to the regular Bachelor's degree. In accordance with the statutory provisions, an extraordinary Bachelor's degree entitles the holder to admission to ordinary and extraordinary Master's degree programs.

Scope: 180 ECTS-AP

Duration: at least 3 years

Requirements: General university entrance qualification and several years of relevant professional experience (exception BPr: relevant professional qualification or several years of relevant professional experience)

Degree:

  • Bachelor of Arts (Continuing Education), BA (CE)
  • Bachelor of Science (Continuing Education), BSc (CE)
  • Bachelor Professional, BPr

University Continuing Education Programmes are subject-specific continuing education formats aimed at professionals and students.

Scope: from 16 ECTS-Credits

Duration: 1-4 semesters

Requirements: according to the curriculum

Degree: Academic expert or certificate of the university course

University courses offer subject-specific further education for professionals as well as students.

Scope: 5-15 ECTS-AP

Duration: up to 2 semesters

Requirements: according to curriculum

Degree: Certificate of the university course

The Summer & Winter Schools are university courses that mainly take place during the semester break. They are primarily aimed at students and young academics.

Scope: 5-15 ECTS-Credits

Duration: 1 semester, blocked in the lecture-free period.

Requirements: according to curriculum

Degree: Certificate of the university course

uWINs are compact intensive formats on research-led topics at the cutting edge with a high practical component. They are aimed at interested individuals as well as companies and institutions.

Duration: ideally 1.5 days or as a uWIN series 

Degree: Certificate of participation from the University of Innsbruck

This training format is aimed at companies, associations and public institutions that would like to train their employees on specific topics. The projects are realized with the help of public funding, which means that the training is free of charge for the employees. Participants complete the project with a certificate of participation from the University of Innsbruck.
