Attosecond pulses of light for studying electron dynamics

Attoseconds are unimaginably short periods of time - one attosecond corresponds to one billionth of a billionth of a second. With these extremely short pulses of light, scientists can observe the movements of electrons in atoms and molecules in real time. In her lecture, Anne L'Huillier will explain the basics of attosecond physics and present the most important milestones in this fascinating field of research.
