Hy- Fish

Due to the requirements of the European Water Framework Directive to achieve good ecological status of water bodies, fish protection at hydropower plants is currently and will continue to be of increasing importance. Against this background, and due to the lack of state-of-the-art technology for fish protection systems, the rope rake was developed at the University of Innsbruck.

Tesla coil

A resonant transformer for generating high-frequency alternating voltage is known as a Tesla coil. The function is based on the resonance of magnetically loosely coupled resonant circuits, i.e. L-C elements.

A distinction is made between the primary and secondary side.

The primary side circuit consists of a switch, usually a spark gap, i.e. a spark gap that switches through after the breakdown voltage is reached, a capacitor and a short coil, usually 5 to 15 turns and larger in diameter.

The secondary side, also known as the Tesla tower, consists of a long cylindrical coil with several hundred turns and receives inductive oscillations from the primary side.

i-pel- SAT

IFEC is an international student competition for innovation, conservation, and effective use of electrical energy, which is open to college and university student teams from recognized undergraduate engineering programs in any location.
The competition is sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power Electronics Society (PELS), Power & Energy Society (PES), Industry Application Society (IAS) and Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA).
