Learning and reading rooms

Our reading rooms are equipped for comfortable working, reading and studying. You have your own open access area where you can find specialist literature and reference books. You can reserve reading places up to 10 days in advance or make use of free spaces on site.

Innrain 52f, ground floor

With 352 reading and study spaces and Opening hours seven days a week, a popular meeting place for students of all disciplines.

  • Wide selection of Tyrolese books on various subjects - several thousand volumes are representative of our collection focus and the wide range of literature and publishing in the country.
  • The range extends from encyclopaedias and reference works to volumes with regional, folkloristic and historical content. Other topics include legends and fairy tales, church and religion, but also architecture, art, nature, law, sport, transport and economics.
  • Special space is given to historical journals, local chronicles from North, East and South Tyrol as well as Trentino, but also to the multi-layered regional literary and linguistic landscape.

  • Manuscripts, fragments, printed matter from the 15th to the 18th century (Tyrolean prints up to 1850), bequests and deposits, maps, globes, atlases, graphics and drawings (Details on the holdings)
  • Microfilms and microfiches, also of external holdings
  • Historical catalogues and archive holdings of the ULB Tyrol
  • Reference library with over 9,000 volumes, including catalogues of manuscripts and incunabula, bibliographies, repertories, text editions and other specialist literature on historical books as well as facsimile editions. Relevant literature / documentation on the historical holdings of the ULB Tyrol and other Tyrolean libraries as well as on Tyrolean book and library history.

The sunny reading room scores with 320 reading places, generous opening hours and an EDP room with 35 PC workstations.

Small but nice - with 24 reading places in a beautiful location above the roofs of Innsbruck.
