Bent and Twisted Spatial Structures

Supervisor: Prof. Günther H. Filz

Abstract. In this research project, self-organized flexible spatial structures by combined bending and twisting are explored. The resulting structures can be used for the design of multi-objectives of architectural, structural, and environmental aspects. These structures offer sustainable responses to architectural, structural, and environmental imperatives. By introducing twist along the longitudinal axis of elements, alterations in surface curvature, depth, density, transparency, structural integrity, and light-shadow interplay are achieved.
