G08 EneRAlp "EnergieRaum Alpen"
Subproject C: Biogenic residue potentials

Funding:

This project is being carried out in cooperation with the "alpS - Centre for Climate Change Adaptation" and is funded by the COMET programme of the BMVIT (Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology) and the BMWFJ (Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth), which is managed and processed by the FFG (Austrian Research Promotion Agency). In addition, the federal states of Tyrol and Vorarlberg are supporting this project with state co-financing.

Funding period: 04/2013 - 03/2014

Content:

Global climate change and the increasing scarcity of fossil fuels are changing the framework conditions for ensuring a sustainable energy supply. Due to the regionally limited potential of renewable, socially accepted and thus usable energy sources, all existing potentials and utilisation technologies must be examined with regard to their suitability in terms of sustainability. The aim of the project is to develop a new pyrolysis process for converting biogenic residues into biochar and pyrolysis oil. These products can then be effectively utilised for energy or used to produce high-quality earth products. Furthermore, the processing of metal-containing waste materials that cannot be processed satisfactorily using current methods is being investigated.
