Würdigungspreis

of the Federal Minister of Education, Science and Research

Every year, the Federal Minister of Education, Science and Research awards prizes to the best graduates from public universities, universities of applied sciences, public universities of teacher education and private universities.

The best graduates of diploma and master's programmes are to be honoured with the "Würdigungspreis" of 3,000 euros each.

It is thus planned to award a total of 35 graduates of diploma studies or master's studies according to the nominations of the universities. As in the past, the number of nominations per university is determined by the ratio of graduates in master's and diploma studies, with each university being entitled to at least one nomination.

The University of Innsbruck can therefore nominate three persons.

Graduates of diploma or master's programmes from the academic year 2023/2024 are eligible to apply.

ATTENTION: These requirements of the ministry have to be met!

1. Austrian citizenship, EEA citizenship as well as third-country nationals and stateless persons with equal status according to § 4 StudFG

2. completion of studies at the University of Innsbruck in the academic year 2023/24 (01.09.2023 – 31.08.2024)

3. exceeding the statutory period of study - of Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in total - by no more than two semesters if graduates pursue double studies (multiple studies) and can demonstrate excellent success in all studies (see 4. and 5.), the statutory period of study may be exceeded by four semesters

4. the diploma thesis/master thesis must have been assessed as excellent and awarded the highest grade

5. all diploma examinations (Bachelor's and Master's examinations): in no examination may an evaluation worse than "good" have been given and in at least half of the examinations the evaluation "very good" must have been given

Documents to be submitted

  1. Data sheet of the Federal Ministry download
  2. Citizenship (copy of proof of citizenship or passport)

  3. Study sheet and confirmation of study period LFU:online
    If the Bachelor's degree programme was completed at another university, a confirmation of study period from this university must be enclosed.

  4. Diploma certificates or Bachelor's and Master's certificates

  5. Abstract of the diploma thesis/master thesis

  6. Letter of recommendation from the thesis/master thesis supervisor

  7. curriculum vitae and list of publications (if available)

The prizes will be awarded by November at the latest. The award ceremony will take place on November 21, 2024 in Vienna in the Aula der Wissenschaften.

The German version of the call prevails over the English one in case deviations.
