Interdisciplinary and Additional Competences
In order to promote interdisciplinarity between the various degree programmes, the module ‘Interdisciplinary Competencies’ (in Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes) or ‘Generic Competencies’ (in doctoral degree programmes) is being included in more and more degree programmes.
A wide variety of courses can be offered within this module. If you also have a proposal for a course concept, please complete the attached form and submit it to the Faculty Service Centre.
In the summer semester 2026, we would be very pleased if applications were submitted for our current focus areas: Basic scientific skills (e.g. science communication), basic digital skills, and sustainability.
We would particularly like to draw attention to the opportunity for committed students to help shape teaching. In tandem with a lecturer from the University of Innsbruck, they can submit an interdisciplinary course on a desired subject area that is not sufficiently covered in the curricula from the students' point of view. A maximum of 2 students per course can take on the role of course supervisor (together max. 50% of the teaching assignment). The assessment of course participants is the responsibility of the course director. The opportunity to help shape teaching can be used once by all students; it is not associated with an ongoing assignment.
Submission of applications
Applications by internal or external lecturers and students can be submitted twice per academic year.
Deadlines for the application
Summer semester 2026 until 26 September 2025
Winter semester 2026/27 until 06 March 2026
Application ‘Interdisciplinary and generic competences’ (in German AND English)

Selection
The decision as to whether a course will be funded and included in the pool of interdisciplinary and generic competences is made promptly by a committee consisting of members of the Senate, the ÖH and the Dean of Studies.
