Education

DK Computational Interdisciplinary Modelling

Founded in 2010, the doctoral programme Computational Interdisciplinary Modelling (DK CIM) offers excellent doctoral students a solid, research-oriented and interdisciplinary program in computational modeling and high-performance computing in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, atmospheric sciences, materials science and engineering.

Extension Programme Scientific Computing

The  extension programme Scientific Computing is combined with bachelor's and master's or diploma degree programmes in other subject areas or attended after graduation in those. Students gain scientific qualifications in the fundamentals of scientific computing.

We ask interested parties and participants in the extension program to subscribe to the mailing list epsc-students@lists.uibk.ac.at. There we provide information about courses, workshops and other training opportunities. Simply send an e-mail with the subject “subscribe epsc-students@lists.uibk.ac.at” to sympa@lists.uibk.ac.at (or use the prepared link).

Training

Training on various aspects of programming for scientific computing purposes is typically provided in close collaboration with the VSC Training and Education program. In addition, independent courses are offered on various occasions:

Scientific Coding with Julia (2022)

This workshop was originally designed for the DK CIM/DP DOCC Summer School 2022 as part of the doctoral college Computational Interdisciplinary Modelling (DK CIM) and intended to last about 12 hours - it was prepared and held by:  Gregor Ehrensperger, Peter Kandolf and Jonas Kusch.

Please find all course material at https://discdown.org/fabulousjulia/

OpenMP Workshop (2024)

This workshop was presented at the DK CIM Summer School 2024 as part of the doctoral college Computational Interdisciplinary Modelling (DK CIM) and intended for two days - it was prepared by Lukas Einkemmer and held together with Philipp Gschwandtner.
