Bachelor's degree – University of Innsbruck

Bachelor’s degree

In everyday language, education is frequently associated with school or family. In the Educational Science degree programme, students deal with theories on conscious and unconscious processes of human behaviours, forms of socialisation and lived experiences. This includes the entire lifespan, from childhood to old age, the whole spectrum of formal, non-formal and informal education processes. Teaching and research in education deals in particular with the relation between generations and genders, cultures, different life situations and abilities.

What jobs can I do with a degree in Educational Sciences?

To obtain access to career options requiring higher qualifications, we recommend that students who complete the bachelor’s degree also complete the master’s degree programme. For an academic career, this can be followed by PhD studies.

How is the degree programme structured?

The programme consists of 180 ECTS credits, one ECTS corresponds to a workload of 25 hours.

The Bachelor degree is designed as a full-time study programme, so graduation is possible in six semesters (= 3 years). However, there is no obligation to complete the degree in that timeframe.
