DUE TO THE GLOBAL CORONA (COVID-19) CRISIS THIS CONFERENCE JOINTLY ORGANIZED BY HARAMAYA UNIVERSITY, ETHIOPIA AND THE UNIVERSITY OF INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA HAS BEEN POSTPONED FROM Friday, April 24th – Saturday, April 25th 2020 TO A LATER DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.
Peace Studies takes many forms in different contexts around the world, depending on the interpretations of peace that can be found in the respective cultural and political environments. Sharing contextual knowledge and experiences from diverse backgrounds helps to promote the development of cultures of peaces and the discipline of Peace Studies in the Horn of Africa and around the world. To this end, this conference invites both local and international scholars, practitioners and community members, engaged in the fields of peace, development and conflict transformation in Ethiopia and internationally to be part of a unique encounter of scholar-practitioners at Haramaya University, Ethiopia.
Participants are will present on a range of topics including:
- Capacity building for peace in societies in transition
- curriculum development for Peace Studies
- Indigenous interpretations of peace
- Didactics of Peace Studies
- Elicitive approaches to conflict transformation
- Experiences with community outreach and institutionalization of Peace Studies
- Recent results in Peace, Development and Conflict Studies research related to the conference topic
Participants are encouraged to explore creative and participatory forms of knowledge sharing.
