About

johannes Rüdisser, a biodiversity researcher and landscape ecologist at the Department of Ecology, investigates how biodiversity and human actions influence each other and the best methods to capture, measure, and represent biodiversity. He is the initiator and leader of the Viel-Falter Monitoring, an initiative for observing butterflies that serve as indicators of changes in Austria's natural and cultural landscapes. In the 'Living Green Roofs' project, he researches biodiversity and extreme conditions on green roofs together with school classes. Beyond his research at the University of Innsbruck's Department of Ecology, he is actively involved in the management team of the Austrian Biodiversity Council and works as a nature and environmental educator.
