I am a Guest Professor of Human Geography at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, a role I began in October 2024. I hold a PhD in Theoretical and Applied Geography from the University of Vienna. Prior to joining the University of Innsbruck, I spent over four years at Sunway University in Malaysia, where I served as an Associate Professor, Head of the Asia Pacific Centre for Hospitality Research, and Deputy Dean for Research, Postgraduate Studies, and Sustainability at the School of Hospitality and Service Management. My research interests are embedded in social geographies, spanning (im)mobilities, migration, tourism, sustainability, digitalization, and microbusinesses. I am enthusiastic about exploring these topics through qualitative and creative research methods.
Furthermore, my academic journey has taken me to various regions, including academic positions at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, Mahidol University in Thailand, and the University of Vienna in Austria. I was also involved in curating and guiding museum exhibitions, blending my passion for academic research and public engagement. Currently, I am also the Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Southeast Asian Studies (ASEAS), a Scopus-indexed, open-access journal (https://aseas.univie.ac.at), and I continue to collaborate as an Adjunct Professor with the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia (RILCA) at Mahidol University.
I look forward to continuing my research and working with students and colleagues here at the University of Innsbruck.
