- Topic assignment
Students can choose from the available topics or propose a similar topic.
Currently available topics: Openolat.
Request by email to the supervisor. - Proposal
Write and submit a thesis proposal (5-10 pages) to the supervisor (incl. motivation, research question, main literature, research method, expected results, and outline).
- Application for the thesis
Prerequisite: all modules of the Master's programme completed and a thesis proposal that the supervisor agreed upon (see point 2).
- Writing of the thesis
- Length of the thesis: at least 50 pages of content
- Format recommendations: Word format template | Latex format template.
- Plagiarism check: Please submit your thesis on your own in the plagiarism check module (Turnitin) in the olat course of Master AG. Correct your work independently until the percentage of plagiarised material is below 10% and send the link to the report to your supervisor. If the percentage of plagiarised material is above 10%, you must obtain your supervisor's consent to submit the thesis anyway. (Note: You may exclude the bibliography and quotations from the similarity report.)
- Submission of the thesis
- Submit the digital version of your thesis to the examination office following the process detailed here.
- Submit the digital version (e.g. Word, PDF, Latex) by e-mail to the supervisor and the Department’s office (Simone.Kirchner@uibk.ac.at).
- Presentation in the “Master AG”
Agree on a date for the presentation with your supervisor (the thesis does not need to be completed at the time of the presentation; the main results of the thesis should be available ). The presentation must be held in person. Registration via email to the Department’s office Simone.Kirchner@uibk.ac.at (carbon copy (cc) to the supervisor).
- Assessment
- If you aim to graduate at the end of the summer term, your thesis presentation must take place in June or earlier. The timeline for the submission of the thesis has to be coordinated with the supervisor in such a way that the assessment of the thesis can be completed by the end of October.
- If you aim to graduate at the end of the winter term, your thesis presentation must take place in January or earlier. The timeline for the submission of the thesis has to be coordinated with the supervisor in such a way that the assessment of the thesis can be completed by the end of March.
