University assistant (she/her)
Sandra Altenberger (she/her) completed her doctorate at the Faculty of Education at the University of Innsbruck as part of the doctoral program Gender and Gender Relations in Transformation: Spaces - Relations - Representations. From 2020 to 2022 she was a scholarship holder of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (DOC). Her dissertation project entitled “To-Do, To-Be, To-Become. A postcolonial-feminist subject cartography of the UNESCO concept of Global Citizenship Education” deals with the question of which discursive practices of production and designation of gendered* subject positions manifest themselves in the UNESCO concept of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) and how these relate to the continuation of colonial power relations. By working out the To-Do, To-Be, To-Become subject cartography, it was possible to show to what extent gendered colonial logics are perpetuated and to what extent these same logics serve as a legitimizing foil for GCE education as a 'rescue option'.
In addition, Sandra Altenberger completed her bachelor's degree in sports science in 2010 and worked in inpatient and outpatient socio-pedagogical youth and family work from 2010 to 2024. During this time, Sandra Altenberger completed (2015) the university course Global Citizenship Education (University of Klagenfurt) and (2017) the Master's program Gender, Culture and Social Change (University of Innsbruck). From 2015 to 2018, Sandra Altenberger was a board member of Südwind Tirol and TIGRA (Tiroler Gesellschaft für rassismuskritische Arbeit).
