Böhm-Bawerk Lecture – Universität Innsbruck

 

Welcome to the Böhm-Bawerk Lectures. On this page you will find some facts about this key-note lecture series organised by the Faculty of Business and Management, the Faculty of Economics and Statistics and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences in cooperation with the research focus EPoS.

Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk was born in Brno in 1851. As a former minister of finance, he published his most important scientific works, his Theory of Capital, during his appointment at the University of Innsbruck. Today, Böhm-Bawerk is regarded as a pioneer of modern economic theory and co-founder of the so-called Austrian School of Economics.

Curriculum vitae/ Career Böhm-Bawerk

The Böhm-Bawerk Lecture was established in 1980 by Professor Dr. Christian Smekal, then Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics. It takes place at regular intervals. For the Böhm-Bawerk Lecture the three faculties invite exceptional academics in the areas of  Economics, Management, and the Social and Political Sciences.
