Bachelor's degree in teaching (French, Italian, Spanish)

The Bachelor's degree programme in Secondary School Teaching French, Italian or Spanish provides a solid foundation to prepare you for a career as a language teacher at secondary schools. It is a compulsory combination programme, i.e. it must be combined with a second teaching subject. This can also be a second Romance language. The BA teacher training programme lasts 4 years (8 semesters) and comprises a total of 240 ECTS-Credits (100 ECTS-Credits per teaching subject + 40 ECTS-Credits in Educational Science). This is followed by the 2-year master's degree programme in Teacher Education. The subject-specific part of the curriculum comprises language proficiency (37.5 ECTS), linguistics (15 ECTS), literature (15 ECTS), regional and cultural studies (5 ECTS) and academic foundations (2.5 ECTS). In addition to this subject-specific training, the Faculty of Teacher Education also teaches the necessary didactic, educational science and practical teaching skills. In the teacher training programme, a Bachelor's thesis must be written in each teaching subject. In Romance Studies, this is written in the respective foreign language.

The reading lists marked NEW! are mandatory for all students who started studying French, Italian or Spanish in the summer semester 2022. Those who will be in their second or higher semester in summer semester 2022 can choose between the old and the new reading list up to and including summer semester 2025. After that, the old list will no longer be checked.
